Damn, the season starts tonight...

It seems like yesterday I was watching the National Championship game between LSU and Ohio State. The funny thing is that I was absolutely hammered while watching that game and can barely remember the events of that night.

I saw a pretty amazing thing on a packed 29 this afternoon: a woman talking on the phone and texting, at the same time. Her left hand held a cell phone to her ear, and in her right hand she was frantically typing on a sidekick with her thumb. And she was standing. The bus was so packed that she was being held up (seemingly comfortably) by all of the bodies around her, leaving her to engage in what I would normally criticize as completely idiotic behavior. It was kind of cool. Just thought I'd share. |

Fabio Aurelio returns to the starting line-up as Rafael Benitez makes one change to his side for tonight's vital Champions League qualifier with Standard Liege - a match you can watch live online. The Brazilian full-back replaces Andrea Dossena on the left side of defence in an otherwise unchanged team from the one that beat Middlesbrough on Saturday.
The Reds go into the clash all-square after Pepe Reina's heroics in the first-leg in Belgium a fortnight ago earned a 0-0 draw and they will be hoping to produce a better showing this time around to ensure they progress to the group stage of the competition.
The Liverpool team in full:
Reina - Arbeloa, Carragher, Skrtel, Aurelio - Kuyt, Gerrard, Alonso, Benayoun - Torres, Keane.

| More Possible Off Season Moves |

Following up my last post here, Aubrey Huff was designated by the Orioles the other day and it looks like he'll clear waivers.
Our need for a power bat and a reliable 3B until our star prospects develop might make Huff a good fit. He's good for 20+ HRs a year, he has a .286 career average but this year was hitting .303 before being designated. With a career .344 OBP he gets less strikeouts than Feliz did and he's still decent on defense. He can also play first if a better option at 3rd shows itself.
If Huff was acquired I'd use him at 3rd and use Bowker/Ishikawa at 1st. If Burrell was acquired I'd use him at 1st with Bowker and use Aurillia in a platoon with one of our young middle infielders. |

I figured I'd post this here because I need to relieve some anxiety that is building up. I don't know if I'll be able to attend the LSU/App St. game this weekend because of the big booger growing just outside the Gulf of Mexico might force us to evacuate to Florida again, but I do ask all of you that you keep this area in your prayers and/or thoughts. It's been three years since Katrina and Rita, but some parts of this area still haven't fully recovered from those storms and from what various weather centers are predicting it looks like we're going to take a direct hit from another major storm.
God's will, right? |

Anybody who has any video or photos of me proposing to my girlfriend during the Wilco set at the Outside Lands music festival can please contact me.
A really nice guy who had video of the whole thing gave me his e-mail address, but the little slip of paper got lost in all of the excitement.
